Artist
Ehekatl Arizmendi is a gifted composer, interpreter, and custodian of the string music traditions from the Costa Chica of Guerrero, Mexico. Deeply influenced by his family's rich musical heritage, Ehekatl champions the "old style" of Costa Chica string music, preserving its unique identity against the generalized styles of the Chilena genre. His mastery of instruments such as the bajo sexto, bajo quinto costeno, guitar, requinto, and violin earned him second place in the Chilena Composition Contest in Jamiltepec, Oaxaca, in 2019, with his piece "El Muchito". Performing as a soloist and collaborator, he has graced national and international stages, including the Cervantino Festival, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, and festivals in Austria, where his artistry continues to elevate and celebrate the rich musical legacy of the Costa Chica.
