Biography

Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873 - 1943) was a Russian composer, pianist and conductor. Seen as one of the greatest piano virtuosos of his time, he is also one of the last figures of Russian Romanticism. The piano plays a central role in the majority of his works, including in one of his most well-known pieces for piano and orchestra, 'Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini' (1934).
